jOIN A CAMPAIGN

What it is :

A systematic, countrywide effort to catalogue Lebanon’s species across all major ecosystems — plants, birds, mammals, reptiles, insects, marine life, and fungi.

Why it matters :

Lebanon has no complete, publicly accessible national species inventory. LNH is building one — open, scientifically validated, and continuously updated through field research and citizen contributions.

What participants do :

  • Submit georeferenced species observations
  • Contribute to taxon-specific surveys
  • Help verify and expand existing species records

What it is :

An assessment of the conservation status of Lebanon’s native species using IUCN Red List criteria — identifying which species are threatened, endangered, or extinct in Lebanon.

Why it matters :

Without knowing which species are at risk, conservation efforts lack direction. A Lebanese Red List gives policymakers, reserves, and NGOs the scientific basis to act.

What participants do :

  • Contribute field observations of threatened species
  • Support data collection for status assessments
  • Work alongside researchers and conservation specialists

What it is :

A program in development — working toward formal collaboration with Lebanon’s nature reserves and protected areas to support biodiversity monitoring and documentation.

Current status :

LNH is actively seeking partnerships with reserve managers and protected area authorities. If you manage or work within a Lebanese nature reserve, we’d love to hear from you.

Seasonal, structured field campaigns open to all LNH members — from spring plant surveys to autumn bird counts and summer marine observations.

Why it matters :

Large-scale biodiversity monitoring requires more observers than any research team can provide. Citizen scientists fill that gap — systematically, scientifically, and accessibly
